Although the film includes all-new main human characters - as played by Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon - the Slimer character (who was famous enough to even appear in The Real Ghostbusters cartoon series from 1986-1991) has, for all intents and purposes, stayed exactly the same. This Series is an anime crossover between Power Rangers and the Ghostbusters franchise, created from footage of Yokai-Corps, an unrelated anime completely indipendant from Super Sentai.
The upcoming Ghostbusters reboot featuring all-female leads (with the exception of Chris Hemsworth as “ Secretary Thor”) clearly needed everyone's favorite ectoplasmic pal, Slimer, to round out the cast. And we wanted to create in Phoebe a character in just the same way: a 12-year-old girl, who, like all Ghostbusters, is an outsider who becomes a hero by putting on the proton pack.
